Cavs Legion Gaming Club (GC), the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, announced today their 2021 schedule. The season begins with THE TIPOFF tournament on May 19th, the precursor to their first regular season matchup on May 29th vs 76ers GC at 9:00 P.M. ET.  The season will run 16 weeks from May to September with each team playing 28 regular-season games each. This season, the league will award $1.5 million in prize money across the THE TIPOFF, THE TURN and the playoffs.

The team will begin their season playing remotely from Cavs Legion Lair Lit by TCP, the team’s state-of-the-art esports center located in Cleveland’s Battery Park neighborhood. All games will be simulcast live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels, and will be available on Dash Radio, ESRevolution, Loco in India and Sport1 in Europe.

This marks the fourth season for Cavs Legion, who was one of the 17 inaugural teams to join the NBA 2K League in 2018. The league has since grown to 23 teams – 22 of which are affiliated with an NBA organization, as well as 2020 expansion team, the Gen. G Tigers of Shanghai, the league’s first team from outside North America.

The team features a collection of young, exciting first- and second-year players, paired with proven, battle-tested veterans that come to Cleveland from across the world to represent Legion on a global stage.  Rookie AveMario, who is the first Spaniard to be drafted to the league, joins oFAB, a perennial MVP candidate that was acquired this offseason, as well as Godddof2K, a former DPOY who has been with Legion since the inaugural season. The team is rounded out by Strainer, an efficient scorer who is in his third season with Legion; high-character and savvy second-year player BigRim, who joins the team after spending his rookie season with Knicks Gaming; and rookie DLaw, a college running back at Monmouth College that will spend his off-season with Legion competing on the sticks.

See below for the 2021 Cavs Legion GC regular season schedule:

For the first time, the NBA 2K League will be aligned into two conferences: the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference, which is home to Cavs Legion.  Each team will play matchups both within its conference and against teams in the other conference.  From exploiting key matchups to lineup changes and set plays, each matchup requires parallel strategy to real-life basketball. The team is led by Head Coach Austin Peterson, who is also an assistant coach with the Canton Charge, the Cavs NBA G League affiliate.

The 2021 season will once again include three in-season tournaments (THE TIPOFF, THE TURN and THE TICKET) as part of THE BANNER CHAIN powered by AT&T.  All 23 teams will compete in THE TIPOFF and THE TURN.  The top five teams in each conference at the end of the regular season will automatically qualify for the NBA 2K League Playoffs Delivered by DoorDash.  The 13 remaining teams will compete in THE TICKET, with the winning teams from each conference earning the 11th and 12th spots in the playoffs.

Regular-season games will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights with four distinct matchups each night. Matchups will be played in a two-game format.
